This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB) for use with network management protocols in the Internet community. In particular, it describes managed objects used for managing Network Interfaces. This memo discusses the 'interfaces' group of MIB-II [17], especially the experience gained from the definition of numerous media-specific MIB modules for use in conjunction with the ' interfaces' group for managing various sub-layers beneath the internetwork-layer. It specifies clarifications to, and extensions of, the architectural issues within the MIB-II model of the ' interfaces' group. This memo obsoletes RFC 2233, the previous version of the Interfaces Group MIB.
